The aim of the paper is to obtain global \(C^2\) estimates for a closed convex hypersurface of \(\mathbb{R}^{n+1}\) with prescribed scalar curvature. The result is given in terms of strictly star-shaped compact hypersurfaces. This is not totally new, since the authors themselves give a reference to \textit{P. Guan} et al. [Commun. Pure Appl. Math. 68, No. 8, 1287--1325 (2015; Zbl 1327.53009)]. The authors offer a new proof and an extension of the result to space forms with sectional curvature \(0\), \(1\) and \(-1\). In Section 2, the authors set up the problem and prove a curvature estimate for the mentioned surfaces and for space forms. In Section 3, the authors prove \(C^0\) and \(C^1\) estimates for the hypersurface in the general case \(\sigma_k(\kappa)\) (also for \(k\neq 2\)). The methods are taken from [\textit{L. Caffarelli} et al., in: Current topics in partial differential equations. 1--26 (1986; Zbl 0672.35027); \textit{P. Guan} et al., Int. Math. Res. Not. 2009, No. 11, 1947--1975 (2009; Zbl 1178.53010)]. The article ends with an existence and uniqueness theorem for hypersurfaces with suitable \(C^2\) estimates. The article is brief and dense, and the level of technicality is rather high. It is assumed that the reader should have a solid background in Riemannian geometry and some knowledge of the methods used in the references.
