The goal of an adaptive solution process is to reduce the total error to a prescribed tolerance. The total error consists of the two parts arising from each step of the overall process of modelling and discretization. This paper deals with a posteriori error estimators for fully discrete hierarchic modelling on thin domains. An approach to provide computable upper bounds on the discretization error and on the totol error is presented. An overview of the results when applied to a non-laminated material is given.
