Recently, \textit{S. Owa}, \textit{M. Saigo} and the third author [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 140, 419-426 (1989; Zbl 0668.30013)] introduced and studied a certain generalized fractional integral operator \(J^{\alpha, \beta, \eta}_{0, z}\) involving the Gaussian hypergeometric function. The object of this paper is to investigate various properties and relationships involving \(J^{\alpha, \beta, \eta}_{0, z}\), the Carlson-Shaffer operator \({\mathcal L}(a, c)\), and the Ruscheweyh derivative \(D^\lambda\). A number of interesting subclasses of analytic and univalent functions are also considered in this investigation.
