Using the method of functional analysis in a Sobolev space \(W^{k,p}(\Omega)\) for an integer \(k\), the authors study the initial-boundary problem for the Navier-Stokes equations in a domain \(\Omega\subseteq\mathbb R^n\) where \(\Omega\) is not a smooth bounded domain. The main result of the paper is to prove the space-time regularity of very weak solutions that belong to \(C(0,T,L^n(\Omega))\). The authors also prove several propositions and make many remarks on the Cauchy problem. Moreover, they prove regularity for a class of solutions which are not weak solutions in the sense of Leray-Hopf. They also include a subsequent corrigendum to give a correct definition of a very weak solution of the Navier-Stokes equations.
