Considering the integrability of a system of nonlinear equations if it admits a Lax pair, the author uses the prolongation technique introduced by Wahlquist and Estabrook in the 70's to study the integrability of the coupled KdV equations derived from two-layer fluids. The author produces the Lax pairs of some Painlevé integrable coupled KdV equations and some new coupled KdV equations. The paper ends with a derivation of the Miura transformations associated with the coupled KdV equations considered throughout.
