In this paper, the authors have considered geometric series related to a large class of positive linear operators acting on a space of functions on the interval \([0, 1]\) and studied the convergence of the series in the case of sequences of admissible operators. Then they obtained an inverse Voronovskaya theorem and they applied their results to the Bernstein operators and a class of Bernstein-Durrmeyer type operators.
