The author analyzes the relations between the Weyl transformation and the twisted convolution product of tempered distributions (or the star product, which is its Fourier transform). Recall that these concepts allow one to define quantization processes. The Weyl transform is in fact a one-to-one mapping from \({\mathcal S}'({\mathbb{R}}^{2\ell})\) onto \({\mathcal L}({\mathcal S}({\mathbb{R}}^{\ell}), {\mathcal S}'({\mathbb{R}}^{\ell}))\), a tempered distribution being called admissible if the corresponding operator maps \({\mathcal S}({\mathbb{R}}^{\ell})\) into \(H=L^ 2({\mathbb{R}}^{\ell})\). By using symplectic differential operators and introducing the spaces \(O'_{\lambda}\) of the left twisted convolution operators on \({\mathcal S}({\mathbb{R}}^{2\ell})\), the twisted convolution product is defined in \({\mathcal S}'({\mathbb{R}}^{2\ell})\) and the structure of admissible symbols of the Weyl transformation analyzed. In particular the bounded operator of \(L^ 2({\mathbb{R}}^{\ell})\) is the Weyl transform of the bounded twisted convolution operators on \(L^ 2({\mathbb{R}}^{2\ell}).\) An integral formula is given for the star product of two tempered distributions in the general case where it is defined.
