In the paper under review the authors define a ring \({\mathcal A}(\mathcal F)\) for any saturated fusion system \(\mathcal F\) on a finite \(p\)-group \(S\). The ring has some links to the usual Burnside ring of a group. In particular tensored with the rationals over the integers the ring \({\mathcal A}(\mathcal F)\) is a semisimple commutative algebra over the rationals. Moreover, \({\mathcal A}(\mathcal F)\) localised at \(p\) is a local ring and if \(\mathcal F\) is the fusion system of a finite group \(G\), then the ring \({\mathcal A}(\mathcal F)\) localised at \(p\) can be obtained by some localisation of a sub-quotient of the usual Burnside ring of \(G\).
