Consider a discrete- or continuous-time parametric system of differential or difference equations having direction vector fields depending on an input parameter \(\sigma\). Here, \(\sigma\) denotes a piecewise constant function \(\sigma = \sigma(t)\) of time \(t\) taking values in a finite set \(I\). The system under consideration may depend on certain control and disturbance input functions. Moreover, there is a state-output equation depending also on the switching system parameter \(\sigma(t)\). The present book is confined to discrete-time linear switched control systems having linear state-output functions. After describing the basic definition of the switched systems under consideration, in Chapter 1 a classification of the switching signals, i.e., the input parameter functions \(\sigma = \sigma(t)\), is given. Stability properties and stabilization problems of switched systems are considered in Chapter 2. Performance analysis issues are discussed in Chapter 3. In Chapter 4 control synthesis problems for discrete-time switched linear systems are treated. Filtering problems for discrete-time switched linear systems with arbitrary switching and polytopic uncertainties are studied in Chapter 5. Asynchronous switching phenomena are examined in Chapter 6. Finally, control and filtering problems with time delays are covered in Chapter 7. Each chapter is equipped with several references. Moreover, the book contains many figures, tables and examples. The monograph can be recommended for courses in discrete-time linear switched systems.
