A subgroup \(X\) of a finite group \(G\) is said to be \(\pi\)-quasinormal if \(XP=PX\) for each Sylow subgroup \(P\) of \(G\). It was proved by \textit{J. Buckley} [Math. Z. 116, 15-17 (1970; Zbl 0202.02303)] that if in a finite group \(G\) of odd order all minimal subgroups are normal, then \(G\) is supersoluble; improving this result, \textit{A. Shaalan} [Acta Math. Hung. 56, No. 3/4, 287-293 (1990; Zbl 0725.20018)] showed that to get the supersolubility of a finite group \(G\) it is enough to assume that all subgroups of prime order and all cyclic subgroups of order \(4\) are \(\pi\)-quasinormal. In the paper under review the authors obtain some nilpotency criteria for finite groups using \(\pi\)-quasinormality. Moreover, they extend these results to the case of a saturated formation containing all finite nilpotent groups.
