Let \(C\) be a smooth projective connected curve over an algebraically field \(k\). Let \(\text{Sym}^n(C)\) be the \(n\)--th symmetric product of \(C\). The canonical isomorphism of grades vector spaces \[ H^\ast(\text{Sym}^n(C))\simeq \text{Sym}^n(H^\ast(C))=\underset{{i+j\leq m\choose i,j\geq 0 }}{\bigoplus}\bigwedge^iH^1(C)[-i-2j](-j) \] is the so--called Macdonald's formula. The formula is generalized to projective integral curves \(C\) with planar singularities.
