To approximate the gradient of the solution of the Dirichlet problem for the Poisson equation in polygon regions, mixed finite element methods are frequently used. The author describes the Raviart-Thomas and Brezzi-Douglas-Marini methods and suggests two a-posteriori error estimators. The first one is based on the computation of adequate norms of the residual. The second one is based on the solution of local problems and it is obtained for the simplest Raviart-Thomas method.
