In this paper, the authors investigate the behavior of a positive solution of the following parabolic problem: \[ \left\{ \begin{aligned} \left( u^m\right) _t=\Delta u-au^p,\;x\in \Omega ,t>0 \\ \frac{\partial u}{\partial \nu }=u^q,\qquad x\in \partial \Omega ,t>0 \\ u\left( x,0\right) =u_0\left( x\right) ,\qquad x\in \Omega \, \end{aligned} \right. \] where \(m\geqslant 1,a,p,q\) are positive constants, \(\Omega \subseteq \mathbb{R}^N\), (\(N\geqslant 1\)) is a smooth bounded domain, \(\frac \partial {\partial \nu }\) represents the outward normal derivative on \(\partial \Omega \) and \( u_0\left( x\right) \) is a positive \(C^1\) function satisfying the compatibility conditions. Problem \((1)\) arises in mathematical models in a number of areas of science, such as, the model for gas of fluid flow in porous media and for the spread of certain biological populations. Based on super- and sub-solution method, the authors obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for the global existence of the solutions. Furthermore, for a bounded Lipschitz domain \(\Omega\) they establish the blow-up rate estimates for the positive solutions and describe the blow-up set and the comparison principle.
