The authors ``study the asymptotics of traces of (noncommutative) monomials formed by images of certain elements of the universal enveloping algebra of the infinite-dimensional unitary group \(U(\infty)\) in its Plancherel representations.'' They prove that these traces converge to the moments of ``a Gaussian process that can be viewed as a collection of [\dots] nontrivially correlated two-dimensional Gaussian free fields.'' The limiting family of Gaussian free fields has ``previously arisen [as] the [\dots] scaling limit of spectra [of] submatrices of Wigner Hermitian random matrices'' in the work of \textit{A. Borodin} [Mosc. Math. J. 14, No. 1, 29--38 (2014; Zbl 1315.60005)]. The results of the present paper were announced in the authors' [J. Math. Sci., New York 190, No. 3, 419--426 (2013); translation from Zap. Nauchn. Semin. POMI 403, 19--34 (2012; Zbl 1278.60045)]. (Quotations taken from the authors' abstract.)
