Multivariate partial Bell polynomials have been defined by \textit{E. T. Bell} [Ann. Math. (2) 35, 258--277 (1934; JFM 60.0295.01)] and have many applications in Combinatorics, Analysis, Algebra, Probability Theory, etc. The main goal of this paper is to investigate the connections between Bell polynomials and several combinatorial Hopf algebras, in particular the Hopf algebra of symmetric functions, the Faá di Bruno algebra, or the Hopf algebra of word symmetric functions. The authors define Bell polynomials in all these algebras, and give analogs of classical results in this setting. Finally, they investigate the connection with other noncommutative analogs of Bell polynomials defined by \textit{H. Munthe-Kaas} [BIT 35, No. 4, 572--587 (1995; Zbl 0841.65059)].
