Lyapunov spectrum of square-tiled cyclic covers (Q639883): Difference between revisions

The study of Lyapunov exponents of the Teichmüller geodesic flow (and the closely related Kontsevich-Zorich cocycle) on strata \(Q\) of the moduli space of quadratic differentials \(Q_g\) grew out of Zorich's pioneering computer experiments with the deviation of ergodic averages for interval exchange transformations, and various properties of the spectrum (particularly with respect to the Masur-Veech measure on \(Q\)), such as simplicity, non-uniform hyperbolicity, etc. have been studied by many authors (Forni and Avila-Viana in particular). Formulas for the sums of Lyapunov exponents, closely related to volumes of moduli spaces, have been considered as well. In this paper, in the particular setting of the measures supported on Teichmüller curves generated by cyclic covers of tori, the authors are able to compute every individual Lyapunov exponent, by expressing them as degrees of certain line bundles in a certain eigenspace decomposition of the Hodge bundle. The sums of these particular exponents were shown by \textit{D. Chen} [``Covers of the projective line and the moduli space of quadratic differentials'', Preprint, \url{arXiv:1005.3120}] to be related to the slopes of the associated Teichmüller curves. Closely related results have also been obtained by \textit{I. Bouw} and \textit{M. Möller} [Ann. Math. (2) 172, No. 1, 139--185 (2010; Zbl 1203.37049)] and \textit{A. Wright} [J. Mod. Dyn. 6, No. 3, 405--426 (2012; Zbl 1254.32021)].
