Let G be a compact Lie group. For smooth actions of G on disks, spheres, and Euclidean spaces, the question of the equivalence of the representations of G at any two fixed points and the weaker question of the equality of the dimensions of any two fixed point set connected components go back to \textit{P. A. Smith} [Bull. Am. Math. Soc. 66, 401-415 (1960; Zbl 0096.375)], \textit{W.-C. Hsiang} and \textit{W.-Y. Hsiang} [Am. J. Math. 89, 705-785 (1967; Zbl 0184.272)], and \textit{G. E. Bredon} [Lect. Notes Math. 298, 291-299 (1972; Zbl 0249.57027)]. We show that except for the distinguished case of smooth actions of G on spheres with exactly two fixed points the answers to these questions are affirmative if and only if in the group G modulo its identity connected component, each element has prime power order. For each finite group G which is an extension of a cyclic group of order s by a cyclic group of order r, where r and s are relatively prime and s is a product of distinct primes, we show what sets of complex representations of G can be realized (stably) at isolated fixed points of smooth actions of G on disks. This allows us to obtain smooth actions of G on disks with isolated fixed points and inequivalent representations of G at different fixed points whenever two or more isolated fixed points can occur for smooth actions of G on disks.
