The paper deals with a numerical approach for ordinary differential equations (ODEs) of the standard form \(\dot x = f(x,t)\), but with the assumption that the given function \(f\) is discontinuous with respect to the state variable \(x\). The difficulty in the problem lies in the fact that it is not known a priori when a discontinuity of \(f\) is crossed as the time \(t\) grows. The numerical integration problem associated with this equation is rewritten as an optimal control problem, and the so-called control parametrization enhancing technique is used to provide an efficient numerical solution.
