Trigonometric polynomials and other functions that are compositions with trigonometric functions are useful as bases for the approximations, for instance, on spheres. Therefore, estimates of norms of such functions are considered, and in the context of this paper, local estimates are of interest. That is, we ask how well the global norm of a function (e.g. an \(L^p\) norm on a set \(\Omega\)) can be estimated by the same norm of its restriction to a subset, \(\Omega\setminus B\), say. The goals of this paper include generalising Remez' results to general \(L^p\) norms and for instance replacing sets \(\Omega\) by discrete sets.
