Using the boson type realization of the affine algebra \(\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}(n+1)\) the authors construct intermediate Wakimoto modules for a series of generic Verma type modules depending on the parameter \(0\leq r\leq n\). For \(r=n\) the construction coincides with the classical boson realizations of Wakimoto modules. It is shown that generically Verma type modules and intermediate Wakimoto modules are isomorphic. The authors also completely describe the submodule structure of intermediate Wakimoto modules in general position. Finally, some formulae for singular elements in imaginary Verma modules for the algebra \(\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}(2)\), inspired by the free field realization of imaginary Verma modules, are presented.
