This paper focuses on distribution-free stochastic comparisons of coherent and semi-coherent systems. Results for stochastic order, hazard rate, reversed hazard rate, mean residual life order and likelihood rate are presented. If the components of the systems are independent identically distributed or exchangeable, the comparisons are based on their signatures. In the cases of just identical distributions and of non-identical distributions, the comparisons are based on distortion functions. In this last case, the comparisons may depend on the dependence structure between the components lifetimes.
