The theory of p-adically closed local rings is shown to be finitary geometric and the stabilization of the theory of p-adically closed fields. Furthermore, the p-adic spectrum is seen to be spatial and properties of the underlying topological space (in particular the nature of its points) are described. Results of M. Coste and M.-F. Roy play an important role.
