Let \(f\) be a holomorphic cusp form on \(\Gamma_0(N),\;N\in 4\mathbb N,\) of weight \(k\in \frac12 + \mathbb Z\) and with \(q\)-expansion \(f(\tau) = \sum_{n=1}^\infty a_n q^n,\;q= e^{2\pi \text{i}\tau}.\) The Eichler-integral of \(f\) is formally defined to be \(\widetilde f(\tau) := \sum_n a_n n^{1-k} q^n.\) This function usually only is defined on \(\mathbb Q.\) The authors show that \(\widetilde f\) is a quantum modular form of weight \(2-k\) in the sense of \textit{D. Zagier} [Clay Math. Proc. 11, 659--675 (2010; Zbl 1294.11084)]and that for any \(\gamma\in \Gamma_0(N)\) the function \(\widetilde f|_{2-k}(1-\gamma)\) is real analytic on \(\mathbb R\) except at \(\gamma^{-1}\infty\). It is an interesting feature that thus we find large classes of quantum modular forms, and not only specific erratic (although important) examples. The authors also formulate several questions which are motivated by the observations made while proving the main theorem cited above.
