The author deals with the strong convergence of a sequence of Perron-Frobenius operators \((P^n)_{n\in \mathbb{N}}\), where the convergence is with respect to the strong operator topology. Its relation to the asymptotic behavior of the underlying measure-preserving dynamical system is investigated. By using the lower bound techniques originally invented by \textit{A. Lasota} and \textit{J. A. Yorke} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 273, 375--384 (1982; Zbl 0524.28021)] to provide a sufficient condition for exactness of \(P\), the author characterizes the strong convergence of the powers of \(P\) by mixing-like properties of the underlying measure-preserving dynamical system. The author shows that any bimeasurable exact system is mixing and thus ergodic.
