Let \(\mathfrak g\) be a complex semisimple Lie algebra and \(\theta\) an involutive Lie algebra automorphism of \(\mathfrak g\) (determined, up to conjugation, by a so-called \textit{Satake diagram}). In the paper under review the authors give a closed formula for the quasi \(K\)-matrix of a quantum symmetric pair coideal subalgebra \(B_{c, s} \subseteq U_q(\mathfrak g)\) for the cases where \(\mathfrak g = \mathfrak{sl}_n\) or the Satake diagram has no black dots. The factorization is analogous to the factorization of the quasi \(R\)-matrix of \(U_q(\mathfrak g)\), as appears in the work of \textit{A. N. Kirillov} and \textit{N. Reshetikhin} [Commun. Math. Phys. 134, No. 2, 421--431 (1990; Zbl 0723.17014)], \textit{S. Z. Levendorskii} and \textit{Ya. S. Soibel'man} [J. Geom. Phys. 7, No. 2, 241--254 (1990; Zbl 0729.17009)] and \textit{S. M. Khoroshkin} and \textit{V. N. Tolstoi} [Commun. Math. Phys. 141, No. 3, 599--617 (1991; Zbl 0744.17015)]. The authors conjecture the validity of their main result for all quantum symmetric pairs of finite type.
