After Zadeh's type function which is union preserving, \textit{M. A. Erceg} [ibid. 3, 75-92 (1980; Zbl 0421.03044)] defined the fuzzy function on fuzzes and \textit{Wang Guo-Jun} [Kexue Tongbao 28, 1089-1091 (1984)] defined the order homomorphism on L-fuzzy sets. In Fuzzy Sets Syst. 12, 281-288 (1984; Zbl 0553.06015)] Wang Guo-Jun gave the notion of the generalized order homomorphism on a completely distributive lattice. The author shows that the fuzzy order homomorphism is essentially a variety of generalized order homomorphism and each fuzzy order homomorphism can be naturally expressed in terms of its restrictions at each point and these restrictions inherit many nice properties from the fuzzy order homomorphism. Hence the author proves that if \(f: L\to L\) is a fuzzy function, the following are equivalent: (i) f is a Zadeh-type function, (ii) each \(f_{{\mathcal X}}: L\to L\) is increasing, (iii) f is increasing, where L is regular fuzz. Finally, the author establishes the characterizations: (i) f is bijective, (ii) \(f^{-1}\) is bijective, (iii) \(f=(f^{-1})^{-1}\), where \(f: L\to L\) is a fuzzy order homomorphism.
