The author studies the mixed problem for the Helmholtz equation in the exterior of several obstacles in two and three dimensions, where Dirichlet boundary conditions on some obstacles and impedance boundary conditions on the rest are given. The problem is reduced to a uniquely solvable Fredholm integral equation of the second kind. To derive this integral equation, additional boundaries are introduced inside scattering bodies with impedance conditions, and the solution is obtained in the form of potentials on the whole boundary.
