The author considers the differential equation \({{d^ 2x} \over {dt^ 2}}+g(x)=p(t)\) with \(p(t)\) periodic and \(g(x)\) continuously differentiable in \(x\in R^ 1\), satisfying \(g(x)/x\to+\infty\) for \(| x|\to+\infty\). The author generalizes in the paper previous work by J. Littlewood, J. Moser and L. Markus, by G. Morris, by R. Dickerhoff and E. Zehnder, and by B. Liu on the boundedness problem for special cases of such (superlinear Duffing) equation. Under rather general hypotheses and using a new method (the twist theorem), the author proves that the differential equation above possesses an infinite number of invariant tori in the \((t,x,y)\) space \(S^ 1\times R^ 2\), and that every solution of the equation is quasiperiodic on the invariant tori. Moreover, he proves that each solution of the equation is bounded. As an example of equation to which the theorem applies, one has \(x''+x^{2n+1}\ln(1+x^ 2)=p(t)\).
