The authors present numerical experiments with three variants of fractional-step method applied to Navier-Stokes equations on staggered grids. On the benchmark problem of driven cavity flow, the authors compare the accuracy and efficiency of projection method, pressure correction method, and iterative pressure correction method. Numerical results show that the projection method yields a first-order acuracy, whereas the other two yield second-order accuracy. Finally, the authors demonstrate that the noniterative pressure correction method provides the same accuracy as the iterative method, with a considerable increase in efficiency.
