This paper proves an interesting variant of the Segal conjecture by generalising Ravenel's geometric proof of the Segal conjecture for cyclic groups. Let \(X\) be a \(C_{p^n}\)-spectrum such that \(X\) and the geometric fixed points of \(X\), \(\Phi^{C_{p^e}}(X)\) for \(0< e <n\), satisfy the \(C_{p}\)-Segal conjecture. Then the authors prove that the \(C_{p^n}\)-Segal conjecture holds for \(X\). Similar results for weaker versions of the Segal conjecture are also shown, where the canonical map is only required to induce an equivalence in sufficiently high degree homotopy groups with suitably finite coefficients. Several specific examples are given in the paper. Including the \(C_{p^n}\)-equivariant spectrum \(B^{\wedge {p^n}}\) for \(B\) a symmetric spectrum and topological Hochschild homology \(THH(R)\) for \(R\) a symmetric ring spectrum. In a further specialised case, the authors recover the main result of a paper of Tsalidis on topological Hochschild homology and the homotopy descent problem.
