The author studies the following fractional \(q\)-difference boundary value problem with \(\phi\)-Laplacian operator: \[ D_{q}^{\beta}(\phi_{\mu}(D_{q}^{\alpha}u(t))) =f(t,u(t)),\;0<t<1, \] \[ u(0) =u(1) =0,\;D_{q}^{\alpha}u(0) =D_{q}^{\alpha}u(1) =0, \] where \(1<\alpha,\beta<2,\) \(D_{q}^{\alpha}\) is the fractional \(q\)-derivative of the Riemann-Liouville type, \(\phi_{\mu}\left( s\right) =|s|^{\mu-2}s,\) \(\mu>1,\) \((\phi_{\mu})^{-1}=\phi_{\nu},\) \((1/\mu) +(1/\nu) =1,\) and the nonlinear term \(f(t,u)\) may be singular at \(t=0,1\) or \(u=0.\) By applying the upper and lower solutions method, together with Schauder's fixed point theorem, the author proves the existence of at least one positive solution of the above problem. Two examples illustrate the effectiveness of the main result.
