Analysis of quasilinear dynamical systems with periodic coefficients via Lyapunov-Floquet transformation (Q1341624): Difference between revisions

The authors study in an engineering style the stability problem of nonlinear dynamical systems with time periodic coefficients. They present an effective method to calculate the state transition matrix for the linear time periodic system by a combination of Chebyshev polynomials and symbolic manipulation programs. For the nonlinear stability problem they apply both time dependent and time independent normal form transformations. Among others the Mathieu oscillator with cubic nonlinearity is treated with the different methods developed, and the results are compared and shown to agree well with those obtained by numerical integrations.
