An numerical method for the simulation of incompressible turbulent flows using turbulence modeling is presented. First, the positivity of the mean turbulent kinetic energy \(k\) and of the dissipation rate \(\varepsilon\) is guaranteed via TVD-type constraints on the convection scheme. Two observations are made, one concerning the use of conservative schemes in this context, the other concerning the case where the mesh is not uniform. Then, an efficient and unconditionally stable time integration scheme for steady-state computations is discussed. An application to the flow in a straight two-dimensional diffuser illustrates these ideas.
