Let \(\mathfrak p\) be a parabolic subalgebra of a semi-simple Lie algebra \(\mathfrak g\) over \(\mathbb C\), then one has a Levi decomposition \(\mathfrak p = \mathfrak m \oplus \mathfrak n\) where \(\mathfrak m\) is a Levi factor and \(\mathfrak n\) the corresponding nilradical. By \textit{R. W. Richardson}'s theorem [Bull. Lond. Math. Soc. 6, 21--24 (1974; Zbl 0287.20036)], there exists \(x\in \mathfrak n\) such that \([\mathfrak p,x]=\mathfrak n\). In other words, if \(P\) is the adjoint group of \(\mathfrak p\), then the orbit \(P\cdot x\) is dense in \(\mathfrak n\). It is usually called the Richardson orbit. The goal of the paper is to give explicit representatives for Richardson elements. For such a description the author introduces certain line diagrams. The author describes a normal form for Richardson elements in the classical case. This generalizes a construction for \(\mathfrak g\mathfrak l_n\) of \textit{T. Brüstle, L. Hille, C. M. Ringel, G. Röhrle} [Algebr. Represent. Theory 2, No. 3, 295--312 (1999; Zbl 0971.16007)] to the other classical Lie algebras and it extends the authors normal forms of Richardson elements for nice parabolic subalgebras of simple Lie algebras to arbitrary parabolic subalgebras of the classical Lie algebras [\textit{K. Baur}, Represent. Theory 9, 30-45, electronic only (2005); erratum ibid. 9, 525 (2005; Zbl 1128.17015)].
