Consider the operator \(A\subseteq A_m\) with abstract generalized Wentzell boundary conditions defined by \[ Af=A_mf,\,\,D(A)=\{f\in D(A_m)\cap D(B)\mid LA_mf=Bf+CLf\}, \] where \(A_m\) is a given operator with a maximal domain on a Banach space \(X\). Here, \(L\in{\mathcal L}(X,\partial X),\,C\in {\mathcal L}(\partial X)\) and \(B:D(B)\subseteq X\to \partial X\) is a linear operator, where \(\partial X\) is a Banach space called boundary space. Under suitable conditions on the Dirichlet operator \(L_0=\left(L| _{\ker A_m}\right)^{-1},\,A_m\) and \(B\), the authors prove that \(A\) generates an analytic semigroup on \(X\). This abstract result is applied to elliptic operators with generalized Wentzell boundary conditions in \(W^{1,1}(0,1)\) and \(C(\overline{\Omega})\) with a bounded and smooth domain \(\Omega \subset \mathbb R^N\).
