This paper is concerned with the description of the Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer free energy functional associated to particles that interact via a two-body potential on a microscopic scale and in the presence of weak external fields. The authors are concerned with the asymptotic analysis when the ratio between the microscopic and macroscopic scale approaches zero. Several connections with the Ginzburg-Landau energy are developed in the present paper. The arguments combine a priori bounds, energy estimates and a related decomposition lemma.
