    The authors present some results on expansions of zonal functions on Euclidean spheres into spherical harmonics and some applications of such expansions to problems involving Fourier transforms of functions with rotational symmetry. They propose a new way of deriving the expansion formula which is based entirely on differential methods. Some new identities for the Fourier transform and some recurrence relations for the Bessel functions are also obtained.
