Let \(M\) be an oriented Riemannian 4-manifold and \(Z\) its twistor space. Then \(Z\) is a 6-manifold, which admits a natural 1-parameter family of pseudo-Riemannian metrics \(h_ t\), \(t\neq 0\). In this paper the authors give a coordinate-free formula for the sectional curvature of the pseudo- Riemannian manifold \((Z,h_ t)\) in terms of the curvature of \(M\), applying O'Neill's well-known formulas concerning Riemannian submersions. As applications they also discuss the Ricci-curvature of \((Z,h_ t)\) and the holomorphic sectional curvature with respect to the almost complex structure introduced by \textit{M. F. Atiyah}, \textit{N. J. Hitchin} and \textit{I. M. Singer} [Proc. R. Soc. Lond., Ser. A 362, 425-461 (1978; Zbl 0389.53001)] and \textit{J. Eells} and \textit{S. Salamon} [C. R. Acad. Sci., Paris, Ser. I 296, 685-687 (1983; Zbl 0531.58020)].
