The predictive control scheme based on the Taylor transformation is presented. The prediction model of a nonlinear system and the one-step-ahead controller which minimizes the weighted difference between the predicted and desired responses are designed. Stability properties following the choice of different criterion functions and of the selected prediction horizon are also discussed. The proposed differential transformation technique is applied to the design of a continuously stirred tank reactor control system. Comparison of simulation results with the responses obtained using known numerical methods reveal feasible performance of the introduced predictive control system.
