This paper presents a spectral discretization method, involving Fourier-Galerkin approximations spatially and Chebyshev approximations in the time domain for Burger's equation: \[ U_t+ UU_x- v U_{xx}= f. \] A convergence theorem is proved subject to \(U(x,t)\) being ``sufficiently smooth''. Essentially, the paper is trying to overcome the problem of the difficulty of overdetermination in the standard method. To do this an objective functional is minimized to obtain the expansion coefficients.
