The authors write a very readable article on the oscillation nature of the solutions to the well known Nicholson blowflies equation. It is shown that if the natural death rate is larger than a threshold value (proportional to the birth intrinsic rate), then many solutions can oscillate rapidly (defined as that there are infinite many adjacent times that less than \(\tau\) (the time delay in the model here is the maturation time delay) units of time apart when the population is at steady state level). Biologically, this says that even if the birth rate is under control and the steady state is locally stable, the population may oscillate rapidly around the steady state, giving it an appearance as if some random factors present.
