\textit{M. E. Sweedler} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 213, 391-406 (1975; Zbl 0317.16007)] formulated the Jacobson-Bourbaki theorem in terms of corings and, in the process, the finiteness hypothesis was disposed of. Motivated by Sweedler's formulation the authors use comatrix (Galois) corings to extend the Jacobson-Bourbaki correspondence to simple Artinian rings.
