On classification of maximal nilpotent subsemigroups. (Q958518): Difference between revisions

The purpose of this paper is to abstract characterizations of maximal nilpotent subsemigroups of various semigroups of mappings and apply them to general finite semigroups. The approach involves identifying maximal nilpotent subsemigroups with certain lists of linear orders defined on collections of mappings on sets of minimal idempotents. The sets of minimal idempotents involved need to satisfy a list of three conditions, which are then seen to apply quite widely and allows recovery of known results on symmetric inverse semigroups, full and partial transformation semigroups, the semigroup of binary relations on a set, certain 0-simple semigroups, and the factor power of the symmetric group.
