Bernstein polynomials are a useful tool for approximating functions. The authors extend the applicability of these operators to a class of locally continuous functions. They consider a Pollaczek weight, which is rapidly decaying at the end points of the interval. The corresponding moduli of smoothness and K functionals are introduced to establish convergence theorems and error estimations.
