The authors construct an infinite family of Zariski dense surface groups of fixed genus inside \(SL ( 3, \mathbb{Z} ) \). They actually construct representations of the triangle group \(\Delta (3, 3, 4)\) into \(SL(3, \mathbb{R})\) which lie in the so-called Hitchin component and hence are discrete and faithful. The proofs are only sketched. The method is based on the paper [\textit{D. Cooper, D. Long} and \textit{M. Thistlethwaite}, Exp. Math. 15, No. 3, 291--306 (2006; Zbl 1117.57016)].
