In the present paper, the authors consider almost-sharp fronts for the surface quasi-geostrophic equation. The sharp fronts are connected to isolated vortex lines of three-dimensional Euler equations. The authors study limiting process as the thickness parameter of sharp fronts goes to 0. They obtain the limiting equation and construct approximate solutions of the surface quasi-geostropic equation in analytic class. Application of the Cauchy-Kovalevskaya Theorem and possible ill-posedness due to the Prandtl-like term are discussed as well.
