A numerical semigroup \(S\) is a co-finite additive semigroup of the nonnegative integers \(\mathbb N\). A semigroup \(S\) is called a complete intersection semigroup provided the monoidal ring \(\mathbb Z[S]\) is a complete intersection, or equivalently if the cardinality of its minimal presentations is equal to \(\nu(S)-1\), where \(\nu(S)\) is the cardinality of its minimal system of generators. Several subclasses of the class of complete intersection numerical semigroups are considered by several authors. The authors introduce a new class, semigroups with \(\alpha\)-rectangular Apéry set. The main result of the paper describes the relationship between the various subclasses of complete intersection numerical semigroups. It is shown that all of these classes are different.
