A manufacturing system with integrated quality control unit is described as an M/G/1 queue, where quality control is performed by using a (Dodge-) continuous sampling plan (CSP-1). The performance characteristics of the queue are investigated, and an optimal inspection fraction is defined which minimizes the long run average cost per time unit. The results are illustrated by some numerical examples.
