The authors consider a class of equations, which includes the Burger-Sivashinsky model for odd solutions with periodic boundary conditions. Besides, they investigate asymptotic \(L^2\) bounds for solutions. In addition the paper deals with the conditional stability of stationary solutions of the Kuramoto-Sivashinsky equation in the periodic setting. It is also established the general structure of the spectrum of the linearized operator, in particular the linear instability of steady states. In addition, the authors prove conditional asymptotic stability with asymptotic phase, under a natural spectral hypothesis for the corresponding linearized operator. For the zero solution, the more precise results are derived. Namely, in the non-resonant regime, the conditional asymptotic stability are obtained.
