This monograph brings an overview of the theory of type-2 fuzzy set theory, reasoning using rough approximations of fuzzy sets and constructions of fuzzy logic systems, based mostly on the results of the author achieved in the last decade. The book is divided into six chapters: 1. Uncertainty of fuzzy sets; 2. Algebraic operations on fuzzy valued fuzzy sets; 3. Defuzzification of uncertain fuzzy sets; 4. Generalized uncertain fuzzy logic systems; 5. Uncertainty generation in uncertain fuzzy logic systems; 6. Designing uncertain fuzzy logic systems. Each of the above-mentioned chapters is followed by a list of relevant references, and finally an index is added. The book brings a sound mathematical background to treat a serious processing of uncertainty, respecting the properties of fuzzy sets important for engineering applications and for their sound uncertain extensions. Experiments and numerical simulations illustrate the proposed methods and they lucidly show the potential of uncertain fuzzy logic systems for engineering applications. The book can be recommended for any reader interested in fuzzy set theory but especially for researchers working with uncertain information, including PhD students.
